ECO-Stewardship is for All

savvySustainability™ is our corporate formula and pledge to do all that we can to create events that are eco-healthy, environmentally responsible and with as little impact on the planet as possible— without sacrificing the client’s vision and while still bringing it to life.Since our launch in 2004, savvyplanners.com has been extremely concerned about the effect our client’s events had on our environment.

After trying for more than a year to earn or locate an eco-Certification especially for Wedding and Event planners, savvySustainability™ was born.

What’s With the Badge?

This badge is the official seal of our own commitment to doing less harm to the environment and the planet in the course of making client’s event dreams and desires come true.

We are in the midst of preparing to offer a savvySustainability™ certification program to other independent and small to medium wedding and event firms (non-corporate) to help our colleagues who want to help the planet while staying as creative, artistic and inspired as they are.

They will receive the official, high resolution and watermarked version of this badge for use on their website clearly identifying them as certified eco-savvy wedding and event professinals for those clients
actively seeking them!

How Our Clients Can Elect to Help Preserve the Planet Even While Planning the Event of a Lifetime

1. Giving us permission to implement your dreams, wants and desires in an eco-savvy manner, through measures such as recycled or reclaimed materials, soy-based inks, washable tools and rentals in lieu of “disposables”, and using innovative surfaces, more eco-protective options for standard items such as light bulbs replaced by LEDs.
2. Considering how every little bit DOES make a difference.

Our internal initiatives and practices, which led to the creation of savvySustainability™, have consisted, in part, of the following:

* Conducting the majority of our daily business digitally, where and whenever possible (via telephone, fax and e-mail).
* Limiting snail-mail correspondence and mailings.
* Minimizing our face to face meetings with clients to reduce their expenditure of funds, fuels, time and vehicular emissions while, actively, using other effective methods to provide samples and ideas.
* Reducing our international and domestic flights to an absolute minimum by developing satellite office teams around the world.
* When clients need to travel, we do everything possible to help provide them with greener alternatives, ideas and routings through which we attempt to reduce the impact of their needs globally.
* Relying on other modes of transportation that are “greener” when we absolutely must travel, such as carpooling.
* Providing eco-friendly recommendations and information to clients.
* Going predominantly “paperless’” in our offices and transactions.
* Encouraging our vendors to select thoughtfully and/or sustainably harvested products and reclaimed materials.
* When forced to source items from outside the U.S. for a client, in every case, we attempt to verify fair trade supplier standards as set forth by the Federation of Alternative Trade (IFAT), now called the World Fair Trade Organization.
* Recycling printing errors into note pads.
* Recycling all paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, metal and our shredder contents.

* Using local and “in-season” florals and ingredients AND/OR using sustainably harvested flowers and produce for specific client demands.

* Promoting Carbon Offsets
