It is possible!
You should check out the ingenius “Cake Vase” from Kathleen’s Cakes! You can add your own floral cake topper, even with flowers from the grocery store and the flowers never touch the cake!
She is a vibrant, delightful, mom of two who respects the GLBTI community and, as we do with our vendors, has been spoken with and vetted, as a Vendor/Ally who will treat GLBTI couples with respect and dignity, so it is with great pleasure that we share her product!
Not everyone’s budget can have a cake by celebrity cake artists at $ 7-$ 25.00 (or more) per portion. We believe that all couples should have access and information about the best items and at a price point that is comfortable for them!
From their website:
“ Kathleen’s Story”
I started decorating cakes for my children, friends and family fourteen years ago. My first cakes were a teddy bear, dalmatian and strawberry shaped cake. While at the library one day with my two children, Piper and Blake, I found a book, Cakes By Design, by Scott Clark Wooley and Michael G. Farace. Their specialty was flowers made from sugar and basket cakes. I literally could not put the book down. I received a gift certificate from my family for tools and a signed copy of the book. The rest is history!
Seven years ago I installed a commercial kitchen in my basement and received certification from the state of Wisconsin and the Village of Shorewood. I have had the pleasure of helping hundreds of people with their celebrations ranging from weddings, birthdays and anniversaries to baby showers and bar mitzvahs.
Neiman Marcus sold a decorated caramel apple in their annual Christmas Catalog for two years. I designed the apple and drop-shipped it from my home.
Last year I entered a QVC search contest for new ideas. QVC liked my idea and offered me air-time and a spot on QVC.com. My new product, the CakeVase, avoids the time and expense that custom cakes require. By using the CakeVase, anyone can create a bouquet/centerpiece cake quickly and easily. All you need is home-baked or store-bought cake, and fresh flowers from your garden or the store.
I would like to add more shapes and sizes to the CakeVase collection in the future but for now would like to get this product into as many homes as possible. Please send me your photos so I can add them to my website to inspire other home bakers and entertainers. I would also like to hear your suggestions and comments!”
We’re proud to bring this item to your attention, in our continuing tradition of trying to help couples create their own perfect weddings even if savvyplanners.com isn’t in their budget. It’s called paying it forward. Happy decorating!!
